LOLA'S EXTRA ORDINARY HAIR

(Ang Pambihirang Buhok ni Lola)

No Library would be complete with out book by Rene
Villanueva, author of over 50 children's books and a
Palanca Hall of Fame awardee. Here he shares a folktale
about lola and her strong, thick hair. Who wouldn't be
fascinated to read that "her hair needed one week to
dry..every meter was tied with shell necklaces and
flowers... her braids were longer than any procession?"

Lola also showed her resourcefulness and courage by
using her magnificent hair to help during typhoons. The
narrator says that every Filipina heroine inherited her
courage from Lola, but even if your child doesn't buy
that, you'd still find lola amazing. Charming in both
Filipino and English.
